I agree, one time I had my period for almost 3 weeks, I am 18 now, but I was I think 14 or 15 and my mom did not take me to the gynecologist because I was a virgin and she was afraid of the doctor breaking it by accident (I am still a virgin). What if I had something really serious wrong with me? Anyway I am going to show this website to my mom and hopefully she will be different with my little sisters.

Hi Serine,

Thank you for sharing. It’s amazing how similar our experiences are, I too had a very irregular menstrual cycle as a young teen, however my mother would not even consider taking me to a GYN. I wish I had something like this website to show to my mother as well.

I am 23 years old, and I have never been to a GYN check up, I used think you don't really need to unless you are sexually active, but recently I've learned that it's not healthy to wait so long. I really liked your resource links, I was surprised learn that 16 is a good age to start check ups.

Hi Lily,

I am so happy to hear that this website was helpful to you. No, you should not wait until you are sexually active to visit a GYN, annual check-ups and pap smears are wise
